ECHO Space
ECHO is a partnership of six regional cultural institutions specializing in education for Native and non-Native communities. ECHO asked us to reinvent their website to better serve their partnership and to encourage cross cultural communication within their diverse audience.
We designed the new ECHOSpace.org as one part online encyclopedia, one part digital uploading service and one part online storytelling tool. This hybrid tool allows anyone to add their own photos and videos to the site and then mix them into ECHO's existing collection of heritage resources.
Community Storytelling Tools
ECHOSpace.org is structured around “Learning Centers” that can be created
by any registered user to tell a story or share community knowledge. Learning
Centers are built out of photos and videos of heritage items uploaded by
ECHO partner institutions or by viewers who want to share their own resources
and contribute to the public collection.
Custom Editing Tools
ECHOSpace’s audience is diverse and ranges from K-12 students in the classroom
to museum-goers in the general public. To serve such a wide variety of users,
we created an editing interface for building learning centers that's easy
to navigate and simple to use.
